SW Urban Trails Walk Feb 11, 2017

Saturday, February 11, 9:00 am

The February walk will be led by Virginia Hendrickson.  From Wilson High School, we will carpool to the Barbur Transit Center.  We will leave the Barbur Transit Center, walk on SW 40th, take a path on the Jackson Middle School grounds and on neighborhood
streets, to the Loll Wildwood Natural Area (formerly known as West
Portland Park).

We will then walk on Palentine to SW 49th to Hildago
and to our next stop, the  Nansen Summit in Mountain Park.  From Nansen
Summit we will descend to the Portland Community College campus and
Lesser Park.  We will leave the campus on Trail 7, walk through SNAP
(Sylvania Natural Area Park) and then follow Trail 7 to Holly Farm
Park.  From Holly Farm Park we will follow Dickinson to a path that
leads to 42nd and Galeburn and then back to the Barbur Transit Center
via 40th.

The hike is approximately 5 miles long, with elevation gain
of 600 feet.  The trails through the Loll Wildwood Natural Area are
rough and may be muddy if we have rain.

We’ll meet behind the bleachers, near the food carts, at Wilson High School (SW Sunset Blvd. and SW Capitol Highway) and be ready to carpool by 9:00 am.  Well-behaved dogs are allowed.  They must be on leash.  For health reasons, there is no smoking on SW Trails walks.

For more information, or to volunteer to lead a walk in your neighborhood, contact Sharon Fekety (fekety@hevanet.com).
