SW Trails monthly first Thursday Work Party on September 7th will be at April Hill Park over in the Maplewood Neighborhood and run from 9AM until Noon. The Parks Lands Stewardship soft surface trails group will be guiding this work. We will be doing our favorite thing, new trail construction, including tread work, and trail grading. Our work area will be the open grassy field near the April Hill Playground and the new little section of trail we build will allow walkers to have wet and winter access to the new Natural Area path with out slipping and sliding on the grassy/muddy slope. Our meet point for this work party will be the West side April Hill Park entrance off SW Miles St and 59th Ave.
Parks will bring all the tools gloves, and materials we need and also, coffee, snacks, water, and usually some fruit. On these work parties it is not necessary to stay for the whole event and you can work at whatever level your skill and energy allows. It is just great to meet the neighbors and get a little trail work in.
It is a little tricky getting to the West side of April Hill Park, easiest is off Vermont and SW 60th just straight down the road to SW Miles. If coming from Multnomah Blvd, then turn N on SW 69th at the Market Brew Pub and right again winding around to Canby and head E to SW 60th then N to Miles St.

Attire should be sturdy shoes and work cloths. We look forward to seeing you out on the trail.
