Work Party Schedule for 2023-2024

Work party dates and locations have been added to our Events Calendar!  Check regularly for details and updates.

Yor are invited to join SWTrails in our 10th season of working with Portland Parks to improve trails in the SW Portland Parks. These work parties are designed to support a wide range of worker capabilities and build community in our Neighborhoods. We welcome all and all abilities.

If you plan to join in the fun, contact Dave Manville, or text 503-753-8186 with your name, but it is OK to just show up (we’ll take all the help we can get!). Please arrive 10-15 minutes early to the work party (8:45 am) to sign in.  We always start with a safety and tools talk to describe the work ahead.

As always, our work is guided by the Portland Parks Lands Stewardship advocates. Parks will bring tools, gloves, and materials we need; and also, coffee, snacks and water. On these work parties it is not necessary to stay for the whole event and you can work at whatever level your skill and energy allows. It is just great to meet the neighbors and get in a little trail work exercise.

Work Parties run each year from September through June. All work parties run from 9AM until noon.

-October 2023 – Stephens Creek Natural Area – Replace Steps and re-armor trail – Oct 5th
-November 2023 – Gabriel Park Canyon Trail and Nature Loop – Crib wall construction – Nov 8th
-December 2023 – Marshall Park – Fall Leaf Raking – Dec 7th
-January 2024 – South Marquam – Armoring and tread work – Jan 4th
-Feb 2024 – To Be Determined TBD – Feb 1
-March 2024 – Marshall Park Frey Trail Tuneup – Mar 7th
-April 2024 – Dickenson Park work TBD – Apr 4th
-May 2024 – Park TBD – Work TBD – May 2nd
-June 2024 – Park TBD – Work TBD – Jun 6th
-July and August of each year our Parks partners work with the YCC youth group and SWTrails takes a break.
