DESCRIPTION:Start time: 9 am (meet at 8:45 so we can start on time)\nName: Elk Point\, Old Red Electric Train on Terwilliger\nStart Location:  Ida B. Wells Parking Lot by the Hillsdale Food Carts\nNeighborhood: Hillsdale and Homestead\nDistance: 3.7 miles\nElevation Change: 51 feet \nNOTE: Our hike is on the 4th Saturday to avoid a conflict with the Multnomah Days Celebration. \nLee Buhler will lead this up-and-back walk starting at Ida B. Wells High School.  We will walk along Terwilliger to Hamilton Terrace. Along the way\, former SWTrails president Doug Rogers will talk about the West Portland Park Train that paralleled Terwilliger and the funicular that ran up and down Hamilton St. We will also learn about the natural area along the walk and a possible short trail segment at Hamilton and Terwilliger.  Bathrooms are potentially available at Hamilton St. and Terwilliger. \nAs always\, well behaved dogs on leash and children are welcome.  Note that smoking on our walks is not permitted for health reasons.  Please be prepared: dress for the weather\, bring water and a snack if you like.
