SUMMARY:2nd Saturday Hike
DESCRIPTION:Name: 5 Parks and 2 Villages Loop Hike\nLeader: Dave Manville\nStart Location: Ida B Wells HS by the food carts\nStart Time:  9 am (arrive 10-15 minutes early so we can start promptly at 9am)\nDistance: 5.8 miles\nElevation Change:  680 ft.\nPace:  2.5 mph avg \nBus Service: TriMet Stop ID-929 and 925 are very close by with some service on Saturday. \nHi Hikers\, well it is Feb 2025\, and the weather shows a bit iffy for Saturday Feb 8th but hey let’s get out there anyway. I have designed the hike for this month to have several “return to base” if you will variations in case we need to cut it short. This will be a great route through Hillsdale Park\, Albert Kelly Park\, Gabriel Park\, A- Park Nature Patch\, Raz Baack Crossing Park and return. We will pass the SW Community Center for a likely rest break and then Multnomah Village on the way back. I have kept us on a bit more even ground in case we get some snow on our hike outing\, but you should watch the weather for that morning and bring\, micro spikes\, poles\, and a bunch of layers as necessary. \nSWTrails still needs Hike Leaders\, Hike ideas\, and a Hike Coordinator so let us know if you have a favorite hike we could do\, or if you have the volunteer spirit and would like to organize these hikes. It is a fun and rewarding adventure. \nJoin us! and remember this is our longer and faster paced 2.5 mph average speed hike with usually more than 6-mile distance and some moderate elevation change. \nBring a snack\, water\, good footwear\, and dress appropriately for the weather (raingear? gloves? sunglasses? sunscreen? many layers?). Note that smoking on our hikes and walks is not permitted for health reasons. Kids are welcome and well-behaved pets on leash are welcome also. We always try and find restrooms along the way on these hikes\, but sometimes it is several miles to find one so prepare accordingly. \nWe look forward to hiking with you this Saturday. \nFor more information or to volunteer to lead a future hike in your neighborhood\, contact us at walks.swtrails.org or use our web form on the Walks page HERE to get in touch. \nDave Manville\nassistant SWTrails Hike Coordinator
