DESCRIPTION: Ida Wells HS to Parks and Villages\nMeet at Ida Wells HS parking by the Food Carts \nName: 2nd Saturday Hike from Ida Wells HS to Parks and Villages in SW Portland\nLeader: Dave Manville\nStart Location: Meet at Ida Wells HS parking by the Food Carts This is where you come into the HS parking area from BH Hwy by the food carts and park back behind the bleachers.\nStart Time:  9 am (arrive 10-15 minutes early so we can start promptly at 9am)\nDistance: 6.5 miles\nElevation Change:  750 ft.\nPace:  2.5 mph avg (our faster paced hike) \nBus Service: There is a TriMet stop 929 out front on BH Hwy but give a call if you need transportation. \nHi Hikers\, this month our 2nd Saturday hike on December 13th is led by Dave Manville on a route leaving from Ida B Wells HS parking over by the food carts and behind the bleachers. This nice hike will take us through some of the area parks\, and we will wander through both of our local villages Hillsdale and Multnomah village to check out and decorations we can find. Along the way we will hike through 4 or so of our local parks and try as many connector trails as we can find. \nWant to help out?  SWTrails still needs hike leaders\, hike ideas\, and a Hike Coordinator so let us know if you have a favorite hike we could do. Or\, if you have the volunteer spirit and would like to organize these hikes\, let us know. It is a fun and rewarding adventure. \nJoin us! and remember this is our longer and faster paced 2.5 mph average speed hike with usually more than 6-mile distance and some moderate elevation change. \nBring a snack\, water\, good footwear\, and dress appropriately for the weather (raingear? gloves? sunglasses? sunscreen? many layers?). Note that smoking on our hikes and walks is not permitted for health reasons. Kids are welcome and well-behaved pets on leash are welcome also. We always try and find restrooms along the way on these hikes\, but sometimes it is several miles to find one so prepare accordingly. \nWe look forward to hiking with you Saturday\, we always find lots of fun along the way.
