SUMMARY:2nd Saturday Hike - November 13
DESCRIPTION:Join SWTrails for our 2nd Saturday hike.  Meet at Garden Home Park\, 8020 SW 83rd Ave Portland\, OR 97223  at 8:45 for 9am hike departure.\n \n \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \nThe SWTrails Neighborhood hike for November 13th will be led by Ben Donora it is about 6.3 miles of hiking with 650 feet of elevation gain. We start this hike at Garden Home Park at the SW 83rd parking lot (see link above or turn South onto SW 83rd off Garden Home Rd for several blocks). \nThis is a nice hike in neighborhoods just outside Portland and we will be traveling through a portion of the beautiful Fanno Creek Trail\, then along Garden Home Road up through the Smith School area (porta potty!) to the Brugger St. paths where we’ll preview Dave Manville’s creative Step Project at 51st and Taylor’s Ferry. From there\, we’ll walk along 62nd Ave to Moonshadow Natural Area\, and finally check for Crocodiles at Crocodile Acres near the end of the hike back at Garden Home Park.Joining us? Great! Always be at least 10 minutes early to sign in. 2nd Saturday hikes are geared to last 2.5 hours\, keeping the pace at 2.5 miles per hour and will be distances of 5-7 miles. If you’re arriving by car from Garden Home Road\, turn south on either 82nd or 83rd Ave where you’ll dead end into one the two parking areas for Garden Home Park. There is also limited street parking on SW Skyhar Drive off of Oleson Rd. And if you are coming by Bus #45 is your bus and Skyhar is the stop you should get off for a short 2 block west walk into the park.We are following Oregon Health Authority guidelines.  Masks are required in most public outdoor settings regardless of vaccination status if physical distancing is not possible.  We prefer that all walkers be vaccinated. Mask-up as we gather\, and maintain 6ft social distancing from those not in your family or pod.  A Mask is not required while we walk but be prepared to use your mask when social distancing can’t be maintained while walking .  No vaccination? Then a mask is always on for our hikes and always keep a 6ft distance from other walkers.Bring a snack\, water\, good footwear\, sunglasses\, and rain gear as appropriate.  Dress and prepare for the weather on hike day.  Well-behaved dogs are allowed but must be on leash. For health reasons\, there is no smoking on SW Trails walks and hikes. If you need to leave the hike early let a hike leader know. We try to find a restroom along the way\, but it’s not always possible to do so. \nFor more information or to volunteer to lead a future hike in your neighborhood get in touch on our web form HERE  We are looking for a volunteer to be our hike coordinator if that is a community service you would like to do then reach out to us.
