DESCRIPTION:Name:  6-Park Loop\nLeader:  Dave Manville\nStart Location: Pendelton Park South Entrance\, 5300 Block of SW Iowa St.\nStart Time:  9 am (8:45am meet time so we can start promptly at 9am)\nEnd Time:  12pm\nDistance:  6.6 miles\nElevation Change: 664 ft.\nAverage Pace:  2.5 mph\nParticipation Requirements:  Fully vaccinated (including Booster)\, have masks as you prefer\nBus Information:  TriMet Bus #1 Stop ID 7549 at 45th and Illinois\, Stop ID 6019 on Vermont St. \nSpecial Notes:  For those using the bus\, it is about 5 blocks to the park; let me know if you need help getting to our hike. \nSWTrails PDX’s 2nd Saturday loop hike will pass through or alongside 6 interesting Parks and Natural/Wetland areas and use several neighborhood connector trails. We first head south to the Idaho St crossing of Vermont Creek and then on to April Hill Park Nature Area.  From there we head west to check out what the beavers have been doing (mostly chopping down trees and building dams) at Hideaway Park. Next\, we will head back north on SW Oleson Rd to Vermont and cross into Nicol Wetlands’ pond area to check out the ducks and geese. We then spend some time on the roadside on Laurelwood Ave.  This is a “be careful” zone with single-file walking and no sidewalks for about 1/3 mile\, but then we loop into quiet side streets alongside Raleighwood Wetlands area\, travel a bit on BH Hwy\, alongside Alpenrose Woods\, and back to Pendleton Park. \n  \nThere are restrooms at Pendleton Park\, and we may find some along the way but no guarantees. \n  \nBring a snack\, water\, good footwear\, sunglasses\, and rain gear as appropriate. Dress and prepare for the weather on hike day. Children and well-behaved dogs on leash are welcome. For health reasons\, there is no smoking on SWTrails walks and hikes. If you need to leave the hike early let a hike leader know. DESCRIPTION:Name: Hideaway Park Loop\nLeader: Dave Manville/Deb Small\nStart Location: North End of Garden Home Park (parking at SW 82nd and 83rd Ave) – meet halfway between the two parking locations\nStart Time: 9 am (arrive 10-15 min. early so we can start promptly at 9am)\nDistance: 3.95 miles\nElevation Change: 352 ft.\nAverage Pace:  2 mph\nParticipation Requirements: Fully vaccinated (including Booster)\, have masks\nBus Information: Bus 45\, Stop ID 4217 at SW Oleson Rd. and Skyhar Dr. From the bus stop\, turn right at Skyhar; enter the park and walk west to the meeting place – 0.15 mile. \n \nWe will be exploring the Garden Home neighborhood on this walk.  We will head north and walk by the Portland Golf Course then head east to walk through the Garden Home Community Center grounds on our way to view the beaver dam in Hideaway Park.  We will then begin the return loop by walking to Moonshadow Park as we head back to Garden Home Park \nBring water and snacks and dress in layers for our early spring weather. Kids and well-behaved pets on leash are welcome\, but no smoking for the health and consideration of others. \nHope to see you there.
