DESCRIPTION:2nd Saturday Hike\, May 14th\, 2022 \nStart Location:  Barbur Park and Ride at the middle by the I-5 ped-walkway\nStart Location Link on Google Maps: HERE\nStart time: 9 am (please arrive 10-15 min. early for sign-in)\nName: Barbur Transit Center to Marshall Park like hiking in the country\nDistance: 4.8 miles\nElevation Change: 380 feet \nCome on out and join SW Trails on Saturday\, May 14th at 9am\, for its monthly 2nd Saturday hike. Ben Donora will be leading this hike. Our second Saturday hikes are geared to move at about 2.5 miles per hour and the will last about 2 hours. \nThis hike takes you through the Markham and Marshall Park neighborhoods on as many little trails and Parks that we can find.  We pass through Quail Post trail\, Foley Balmer Natural Area\, Marshal Park and Maricara Park and stick to the side streets as best we can. We begin this route at the Barbur Transit Center which has ample parking and easy public transit access. This route is suitable for sturdy walkers\, hikers\, and runners. Strollers are not advised. With the recent rains some of the trail surface for this hike will be wet and muddy and a section at the South end of Marshall Park and through parts of Maricara has some roots to be navigated \nCOVID is still with us and we respect your choices. Join us with a mask or without\, but respect those around you. Wearing the mask as we gather is still a great idea and be mindful as you hike with us of others who may still prefer to keep that 6 ft distance. \nBring a snack\, water\, good footwear\, sunglasses\, and dress for the weather. Note that smoking on our walks is not permitted for health reasons. Kids and well-behaved pets are welcome. \nHope to see you there.

DESCRIPTION:3rd Saturday Walk May 21\n9:00 am – 11:30 am\nName: Back and Forth to Lee’s House for Coffee\nLeader: Lee Buhler\nStart Location: Behind the Hillsdale Food Carts (Ida B Wells Parking Lot)\nStart Time: 9 am (arrive 10-15 min. early so we can start promptly at 9am)\nDistance: 2.4 Miles One-Way\nElevation Change: 291 ft.\nAverage Pace:  2 mph\nParticipation Requirements: Fully vaccinated (including Booster)\, have masks available\nBus Information:  Many buses go to the stop at the corner of SW Sunset and SW Capitol Hwy \nToday’s hike will take us from Ida B Wells HS and down Terwilliger to stop at Lee’s house for a coffee and treat break.  Our walk is 2.4 miles one way.  After our break you have the option to walk back to our starting point or catch a near-by bus to get back to the high school.  Bring bus money if you want to take that option. \nBring water and snacks and dress appropriately for the weather. Kids and well-behaved pets on leash are welcome\, but no smoking for the health and consideration of others. \nHope to see you there.
