DESCRIPTION:Name:  Gabriel Park Loop to April Hill and Woods Park\nLeader:  Dave Manville\nStart Location: Street Parking on SW 37th and SW Vermont HERE\nStart Time:  9 am (8:45am meet time so we can start promptly at 9am)\nEnd Time:  12pm\nDistance:  6 miles\nElevation Change: 450ft\nAverage Pace:  2.5 mph\nParticipation Requirements:  Fully vaccinated (including Booster)\, have masks as you prefer\nBus Information:  Metro Bus #1 runs alongside SW Vermont and stops are very near SW 37th\n \nSWTrails 2nd Saturday Hike on June 11th 3033 meets at 8:45 and leaves at 9AM from Gabriel Park at the NW Corner. This is our longer and faster monthly hike walking 5-7 miles at 2.5 miles per hour. We will meet at SW 37th and Vermont (The Northeast side of the Park and park on SW 37th street) it is served by Bus #1. HERE is a link to the meeting place. This hike is 6 miles and 450 ft of Elevation\, and we will find our way to and through Gabriel Park\, April Hill Park\, Woods Park and several connecting trails along the way. \n  \nBring a snack\, water\, good footwear\, sunglasses\, and rain gear as appropriate. Dress and prepare for the weather on hike day. Children and well-behaved dogs on leash are welcome. For health reasons\, there is no smoking on SWTrails walks and hikes. If you need to leave the hike early let a hike leader know. DESCRIPTION:3rd Saturday Walk\nJune 18th @ 9:00 am – 11:30 am be 15 minutes early\nName: Ashcreek Nature Area and Dickinson Park Loop\nLeader: Dave Manville\nStart Location: Smith School 8935 SW 52nd Ave in front of school entrance\nStart Location Google Map Link: HERE\nStart Time: 9 am (arrive 10-15 min. early so we can start promptly at 9am)\nDistance: 3.2 miles\nElevation Change: 360 ft.\nPace and Terrain: Our 3rd Saturday Walks are a more casual length and pace (about 2 mile per hour for 3-4 miles) than the fast-paced 2nd Saturday Hikes.  This walk will be on both quiet city streets and on trails and paths with uneven surfaces\, a few steps\, and the possibility of some slippery spots\, roots\, and short steep sections.\nParticipation Requirements: Fully COVID vaccinated (including Booster)\, have masks available as an option for when we gather in close proximity.\nBus Information: Bus 45\, Stop ID 1963 going West\, 1966 going East at Garden Home rd and SW 52nd. From the bus stop go South up hill on 52nd to Dolph jog left and right to SW 52nd and continue South to Smith School 1 block. \nRoute Description: \nWe will be exploring the Ashcreek Natural Area\, Dickinson Park trails\, and Brugger paths on this walk.  We begin from the front of Smith School and head up 51st to Brugger and out west to 55th south to Dickinson Park down the trail at Alfred to 57th and back up SW Trail #5 in the open field where we did an Eagle Scout rehab project last fall and then on up through Ashcreek Nature Area and take the quiet streets back to Smith School. \n  \nBring water and snacks and dress in layers for our spring to summer weather. Kids and well-behaved pets on leash are welcome\, but no smoking for the health and consideration of others. We try and find a restroom on our walking route but many times nothing is available so prepare accordingly. You are welcome to join us for just a portion of the hike but let a hike leader or sweep person know when you are leaving the hike. \n  \nLooking forward to walking with you at this event. \nDave Manville
