DESCRIPTION:SW Trails monthly Thursday Work Party for Sept 5th 2019 will be at Foley-Balmer Natural Area from 9am until Noon.  We are going to work on the trail down to the NEW BRIDGE !!  Brushing and a bit of trail grading will be the order of the day. \nWe will meet over on SW Collin Ct side cross St is SW 18th\, parking available in the Ct (see map below). Please consider joining us out on the trail in 2019 as these work parties are designed to support a wide range of worker capabilities. We welcome all and all abilities. So give some thought to joining us or just stop by and say hi. \nAs always our work is guided by the Portland Parks Lands Stewardship folks. and Parks will bring all the tools\, gloves\, and materials we need\, and also\, coffee\, snacks\, water\, and usually some fruit. On these work parties it is not necessary to stay for the whole event and you can work at whatever level your skill and energy allows. DESCRIPTION:Dave Manville will lead this month’s hike. We’ll use Smith School as our starting point (SW 52nd Ave & Marigold St.)\, traveling through four natural areas—Dickinson Park\, Ashcreek Natural Area\, Maricara Park and Woods Park—as well as along several of our SW connector trails. The hike is about 6.25 miles with an elevation change of 250 feet. \nWe will meet behind the bleachers at Wilson High School (SW Sunset Blvd. and Capitol Highway) and be ready to go by 9:00 am (we’ll carpool to Smith School). Feel free to meet us directly at the start point—Smith School—we’ll be there by 9:15 am.  Bring a snack\, water\, good footwear\, sunglasses and dress for the weather.  Well-behaved dogs are allowed. SUMMARY:Stroll & Coffee Saturday\, September 21
DESCRIPTION:Explore East Hillsdale: Please join SWTrails on Saturday\, September 21\, for its monthly “Stroll and Coffee” walk. The “Stroll and Coffee” walk is designed to offer a walking opportunity that is shorter than our traditional hike and ends with a stop for coffee and socializing if you desire. Kids (and well-behaved pets) of all ages welcome. \nWe will be exploring the eastern section of Hillsdale by heading off between Wilson High and Rieke Elementary Schools. We will walk east on Vermont and wander south at SW 11th to SW Caldew\, to SW Terwilliger\, where we head north to SW Nevada to explore Hillsdale between Terwilliger and Barbur before circling back to our starting point. We will meet at 9am in the parking lot of Wilson High School near the food trucks (the same location for our longer hikes). Hope to see you there.
