SUMMARY:SWTrails Monthly Work Party Thursday\, October 10
DESCRIPTION:SW Trails monthly Thursday Work Party for October 10th (Note this is the 2nd Thursday not our usual 1st Thursday ) will be at Council Crest over by where the paved trail comes up on the West side from 9am until Noon.  We are going to be placing new steps and brushing out in and around the area. PLEASE NOTE: Parks has a request of our SW Trails volunteer group to let them know ahead of time if you can attend so they can better prepare for the group size. They have set up a project page on Solve\, if you plan to attend please use the  page below\, or just reply to me via this eMail and I will add you to our SW Trails group. \nhttps://www.solveoregon.org/opportunity/a0C1I00000N1jcPUAR \nor: email   daville50@outlook.com \nWe will meet on the West side of the Council Crest circle drive where the paved path meets the sidewalk\, parking is available on the circle drive (see meet point map below).\n\nPlease consider joining us out on the trail in 2019 as these work parties are designed to support a wide range of worker capabilities. We welcome all and all abilities. So give some thought to joining us or just stop by and say hi. \nAs always our work is guided by the Portland Parks Lands Stewardship folks. and Parks will bring all the tools\, gloves\, and materials we need\, and also\, coffee\, snacks\, water\, and usually some fruit. On these work parties it is not necessary to stay for the whole event and you can work at whatever level your skill and energy allows. It is just great to meet the neighbors and get a little trail work in. \nWhen you join us please wear work clothing\, closed toe shoes and weather appropriate layers.  It is the NW who knows what weather we will get but layers are always good.

SUMMARY:SWTrails Monthly Hike Saturday\, October 12
DESCRIPTION:Walk to the Willamette with SW Trails on October 12th on our regular 2nd Saturday hike. Dave Manville will lead this 6 mile hike starting at the Wilson High School bleachers and heading east through Burlingame and into George Himes park on SW Trail #3\, and then through the park to South Portland and the Willamette trail. We will pass through Willamette Park\,  then head back via the steps on SW Trail 4 and Burlingame Park\, cross the Freeway on SW 19th and SW Trail #6 and head North via the Raz-Baack crossing and end back where we began at Wilson. This trail will have about 875 ft of elevation change. \nWe will meet behind the bleachers at Wilson High School (SW Sunset Blvd. and Capitol Highway) and be ready to go by 9:00 am. Bring a snack\, water\, good footwear\, sunglasses and dress for the weather.  Well-behaved dogs are allowed. They must be on leash.  For health reasons\, there is no smoking on SWTrails walks. \nNote: there will be a restroom break at Willamette Park\, and the possibility of shortening the hike if weather impinges or by popular demand.
