SUMMARY:SWTrails Monthly Hike Saturday\, January 11
DESCRIPTION:Rick Kappler will lead SWTrails’ January hike. This is a return to a popular hike we walked in 2016. We’ll be exploring the Bridlemile\, SW Hills Residential League\, West Slope and Raleighwood neighborhoods on back streets and stairs and local trails. \nWe meet behind the bleachers (near the food carts) at Wilson High School\, SW Sunset Blvd and Capitol Hwy\, and are ready to go at 9:00 am. We’ll carpool over to Hamilton City Park (right next to Bridlemile Elementary 4300 SW 47th Dr\, Portland\, OR 97221—here’s a Google map link.) The walk from here will begin at 9:15 am (hikers can meet the group in the Bridlemile parking lot).  This is a 6:05 mile hike with about 450 feet of elevation change on the hike\, so a bit hilly.  As we hike we wind our way up to Scholls Ferry and Patton Roads\, then down and up to Canyon Drive\, on to Raab Road on the side of Hwy 26; from there we’ll head over to Hewett Blvd and down to Patton\, then back to Hamilton Park on side streets and little local trails. On this hike we do spend a few blocks on both Scholls Ferry and Patton with a narrow roadside walking area. It is January so be prepared for a winter walk with layered clothing. \n \nPDF Version of the route can be viewed here  \nBring a snack\, water\, good footwear\, sunglasses and dress for the weather.  Well-behaved dogs are allowed\, but must be on leash. SUMMARY:Stroll & Coffee Saturday\, January 18
DESCRIPTION:Please join Southwest Trails on Saturday\, January 18\, at 9am\, for our monthly “Stroll and Coffee” walk. The “Stroll and Coffee” is designed to offer a walking opportunity that is shorter than our traditional hike and ends with a stop for coffee and socializing if you desire. As always\, children and well-behaved dogs on leash are welcome. \nWe will meet behind the bleachers at Wilson High School (SW Sunset Blvd. and Capitol Highway) and be ready to go by 9:00 am. It’s January so be prepared for all kinds of weather.Our stroll will begin on the walking path through Wilson High School campus\, continue on SW Chestnut to SW 14th Ave/SW Nevada to SW 12th Ave.\, where we will head south to SW 13th Ave. There we will continue southerly to SW Custer St. and then head up to SW 17th and then over to Custer Park. After walking through the park\, we’ll head back on SW 24th\, SW Canby\, SW 25th\, SW Nevada Ct.\, Raz-Baack Crossing through Stephens Creek\, SW Chestnut\, SW 13th\, and then walking between Reike and Wilson Schools.
