DESCRIPTION:SWTrails’ monthly Thursday Work Party on March 5th 2020 will be at April Hill Park from 9 am to noon.  We will be working on the trail tread surfaces leading into and through the Natural Area adding gravel and widening areas that have narrowed over time. \nPortland Parks has requested that our SWTrails volunteer group sign up ahead of time\, so they can better prepare for the group size. They have set up a project web page on SOLVE. If you plan to attend please use the page link below\, or just reply to me via this email–daville50@outlook.com— and I will add you to our SWTrails group. \nSOLVE April Hill Park March 5th Sign-up\n\nWe will meet by the playground on the West side of the park. Street parking is available along SW Logan Ct or SW Miles St. \nMap of meet point and surrounding roads \nPlease consider joining us out on the trail in 2020 as these work parties are designed to support a wide range of worker capabilities and build community in our neighborhoods. We welcome all and all abilities. So give some thought to joining us or just stop by and say hi. \nAs always\, our work is guided by the Portland Parks Lands Stewardship folks. Parks will bring all the tools\, gloves\, and materials we need\, and also coffee\, snacks\, water\, and usually some fruit. On these work parties it is not necessary to stay for the whole event and you can work at whatever level your skill and energy allows. It is just great to meet the neighbors and get a little trail work in. \nWhen you join us please wear work clothing\, closed toe shoes and weather appropriate layers.  It is the NW who knows what weather we will get but layers are always good. \n \nQuestions to: Dave Manville\, daville50@outlook.com

DESCRIPTION:SWTrails Monthly Hike Saturday\, March 14–UPDATE: for you hardy hikers–snow or no–the hike is still on!!! \nHans Steuch will lead our hike in March. We’ll begin the walk at Wilson High School and go east on Trail 3 to Willamette Park. From there\, we’ll head south to the east end of  Trail 4\, then west on Trail 4. We’ll pick up Trail 6 North on 19th Ave and return via Stephens Creek Natural Area to Wilson. Distance about 5 miles\, elevation change 500 feet. \nWe meet behind the bleachers (near the food carts) at Wilson High School\, SW Sunset Blvd and Capitol Hwy\, and are ready to go at 9:00 am. \nBring a snack\, water\, good footwear\, sunglasses and dress for the weather.  Well-behaved dogs are allowed\, but must be on leash. For health reasons\, there is no smoking on SWTrails walks. For more information or to volunteer to lead a future walk in your neighborhood\, contact Britta Gordon (swtrailsbritta@gmail.com). DESCRIPTION:SW Trails Stroll and Coffee \nSWTrails is cancelling the Stroll and Coffee scheduled for Saturday\, Mar 21\, 2020 due to the current state of affairs with the coronavirus challenge. \nThe health and safety of our members and those who walk with us is of primary importance.  In line with State recommendations and what other groups are doing\, the Board is saddened to cancel\, but believe it is in the best interest of all to be cautious. \nWe will be re-evaluating the situation at the end of this month to determine the status of walks in April. \nThank you for your understanding.
