DESCRIPTION:2nd Saturday Hike\, August 14\, 2021\nStart time: 9 am\nName: Gabriel/Woods/April Hill Parks\nNeighborhood: Multnomah Village\, Ashcreek and Maplewood\nDistance: 5.5 miles\nElevation Change: 700 feet\nStart/End Location: Smith School\, 8935 SW 52nd Ave\, Portland \nThis hike connects 3 neighborhood parks\, Gabriel\, Woods Memorial and April Hill\, all with wooded or natural area trails. The trails between the parks use mostly side streets\, sections of SW Trails # 3 and #7\, and some connecting trails. The hike follows the route outlined as Self-Guided Hike #12 on our website but starts and ends at the suggested alternate point\, by Smith School where 52nd Ave has lots of on-street parking.

DESCRIPTION:4th Saturday Hike\, August 28\, 2021\nStart time: 9 am\nName: Elk Point\, Old Red Electric Train on Terwilliger\nNeighborhood: Hillsdale and Homestead\nDistance: 3.7 miles\nElevation Change: 51 feet \nLee Buhler will lead this up-and-back walk starting at Ida B. Wells High School.  We will walk to Terwilliger and then up to the Elk Point Overlook. SWTrails Board member Laura Campos will give a talk about the totem pole installed in 1959. We will then walk along Terwilliger to Hamilton St. where SW Trails Board President\, Doug Rogers will talk about the rail line that went up Hamilton and along Terwilliger in the 1890s. We will have our coffee at the little park at Terwilliger and Hamilton\, and then head back to the high school. \nAs always\, well behaved dogs on leash and children are welcome.  Note that smoking on our walks is not permitted for health reasons.  Please be prepared: dress for the weather\, bring water and a snack if you like. We hope to see you there.

DESCRIPTION:Time:  9-12am \nJoin us for our regularly scheduled clean-up on Trail 3 alongside Wells High School’s northern edge near the food trucks and bleachers. Bring gloves\, hedge trimmers\, pruners\, and clippers. A chainsaw may be useful to attack some of the larger growth. \nPizza will be provided for lunch.
