SUMMARY:November Work Party - Gabriel Park
DESCRIPTION:Join us for our monthly Thursday Work Party on November 3rd\, 2022.  Will be at Gabriel Park from 9am to Noon working on the newly named “Canyon Trail” which parallels SW 45th in the wooded area of the park.\n\nOur work will involve some rerouting of the trail\, working on the tread surface\, and closing some social trails in the area. This trail is part of a newly named and even some newly commissioned trails in Gabriel Park finalized in 2021. You may have seen the trail signs being placed recently and we will bring along a few maps of the new trail names and locations. Meet for this Work Party at the Little Gabriel Parking area at 4123 SW Canby Street Portland OR. This is not the main parking for the Community Center. HERE is a link to Parking map. \nPlease consider joining us out on the trails in 2022 as these work parties are designed to support a wide range of worker capabilities and build community in our Neighborhoods. We welcome all and all abilities. If you do plan to join in the fun\, please RSVP via the email listed below. \nAs always our work is guided by the Portland Parks Lands Stewardship folks who will bring all the tools\, gloves\, and materials we need.  Also\, coffee\, snacks\, water\, and usually some fruit will be provided. On these work parties it is not necessary to stay for the whole event and you can work at whatever level your skill and energy allows. \nWhen you join us please wear work clothing\, closed toe shoes and weather appropriate layers.  It is the NW who knows what weather we will get. \nI look forward to seeing you out there helping us … help the trails. \nDave Manville\ndaville50@outlook.com\nSW Trails Project Coordinator

SUMMARY:2nd Saturday Hike Nov 12 '22
DESCRIPTION:SWTrails 2nd Saturday Hike Nov 12th\, 2022\nName: Red Electric at Pendleton Park\,  Red Electric Bridge\, and Gabriel Pk Loop\nLeader: Dan Rassmussen\nStart Location: Pendleton Park at SW Iowa St 5300 block street side near the playground\nStart Time:  9 am (8:45am meet time so we can start promptly at 9am)\nEnd Time:  12pm\nDistance:  6.8 miles\nElevation Change:  815 feet\nAverage Pace:  2.5 mph\nParticipation Requirements:  Fully vaccinated (including Booster)\, have masks as you prefer\nBus Information:  No bus available – contact dave.manville@swtrails.org if you need transportation \nOn this hike led by Dan Rassmussen we will show off several sections of the Red Electric trail starting in Pendleton Park and pass through 3 additional parks; Gabriel\, Stevens Crossing\, Albert Kelly. We will use several connector trails and the Red Electric Bridge as we walk the Hayhurst\, Multnomah\, and Hillsdale neighborhoods. There will be both on-street and trails hiking along the way. This is a rather long hike but relatively flat so we should keep pace at 2.5 mph which is standard for our faster paced 2nd Saturday hike. In the event of inclement weather there are options to shorten the hike\, but we are a hardy group so prepare for what early winter weather can bring. \nBring a snack\, water\, good footwear\, rain gear\, umbrella\, and maybe sunglasses as appropriate. Dress and prepare for the weather on the day of our hike. Children and well-behaved dogs on leash are welcome. For health reasons\, there is no smoking on SWTrails walks and hikes. If you need to leave the hike early let the hike leader know. We try to find a restroom along the way\, but it’s not always possible to do so. \nLooking forward to seeing you there with us. \nSuzie Blount
