SUMMARY:February Work Party
DESCRIPTION:SWTrails Monthly 1st Thursday Work Party for the February 2nd 2023 is at Maricara Park from 9AM to NOON. We will meet at the Parks white truck on SW 25th Street that is the East side of the park where SW Trail 5 exists (10618 SW 25th is across the street). \nWe will be working on the trail tread surface covering roots with rock ballast and cleaning and creating some new drains. Also there will leaf sweeping and other tasks available. This will help to maintain the all weather trail surface for the walkers\, hikers\, and runners that frequent this wonderful park. \nPlease consider joining us out on the trails in 2023. These work parties are designed to support a wide range of worker capabilities and build community in our Neighborhoods. We welcome all and all abilities. So\, give some thought to joining us or just stop by and say hi. \nIf you do plan to join in the fun\, give me a heads up on email\, just reply to this mailing and let me know you will be there\, I can then pass a head count to our Parks leaders\, but it is OK to just show up on the workday also. Please be about 10-15 minutes early to the work party (8:45 am) to sign in and we always start with a safety and tools talk describing and demonstrating the work ahead. \nAs always our work is guided by the Portland Parks Lands Stewardship folks. Parks will bring all the tools\, gloves\, and materials we need\, and also\, coffee\, snacks and water. On these work parties it is not necessary to stay for the whole event and you can work at whatever level your skill and energy allows. It is just great to meet the neighbors and get in a little trail work exercise. \nWhen you join us\, please wear work clothing\, closed toe shoes and weather appropriate layers.  It is the NW who knows what weather we will get but several layers are always a good idea. \nThank you for helping us to “Help the Trails”\nSWTrails-PDX
