DESCRIPTION:SWTrails 3rd Saturday Walk May 17\, 2025\nMeet at IB Wells HS \nName:  Wells\, Hillsdale Park\, Stephens Creek Loop\nLeader: Deb Small\nStart Location:  IB Wells Parking Lot Near the Food Carts\nStart Time: 9 am (arrive 10-15 min. early so we can start promptly at 9am)\nDistance:  3.4 Mi.\nElevation Change:  347 ft.\nAverage Pace:  2 mph\nBus Information:  Many routes stop at Sunset and Capital Hwy.  Due to schedule changes\, check Tri Met for bus information\nSpecial Notes:  Rain is predicted. May be some challenging steps and mud.  Bring walking sticks if you want.\n\nWe will meet in the IB Wells HS parking lot near the food carts at Sunset and Capital Hwy.  Please arrive by 8:45am to start at 9:00am. \nWe’ll head up Sunset from Wells HS to Boundary\, where we will turn left and walk down to the bridge that crosses the gulley behind Robert Gray Middle School and walk through Hillsdale Park.  We’ll then cross BH Hwy and go down then up the steps leading across Fanno Creek Crossing and proceed to the Red Electric Bridge. We’ll wend our way to Bertha Blvd and the Stephens Creek Crossing as we begin to head back to where we started\, going through the Texas Wetlands along the way. \nMud-worthy shoes as well as hiking sticks are recommended for those who usually need them.   It is expected to be wet so be prepared. \nBring water and snacks and dress appropriately for the weather. SUMMARY:Sunday Parkways in sw Portland May 18
DESCRIPTION:SWTrails is once again participating in PBOT’s Sunday Parkways on May 18.  This year there will be a self-led hike connecting all three of the staging areas — Spring Garden Park\, Multnomah Village\, and Gabriel Park. \nCome out\, enjoy the event\, and take some time to walk between the three street loctations! \nSouthwest Portland route\nThe Southwest Portland route will feature a 2-mile multi-modal route and a separate 3.6-mile walking route. Start anywhere on either route and bike\, walk\, or roll as you explore the four featured stops. Each stop will feature local entertainment\, community booths\, and vendors\, so make sure to plan your day to have time to visit each stop between 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.! \nThe walking route is 3.6 miles long for pedestrians and loops around the north side of Gabriel Park to the south side of the park and ventures onward to SW Canby Street. The path leads to SW 35th Avenue and crosses the multi-modal route on SW Capitol Highway. The route continues south along SW 35th Avenue\, which leads to SW Spring Garden Street\, loops through SW Spring Garden Park\, and ends on SW Dolph Street. The path loops around Spring Garden Park and provides exposure to one of the many great walking trails SW Portland offers! \nThe second route is 2 miles long and is multimodal\, for people walking\, biking\, rolling\, and strolling. Traveling north to south\, it runs from the north end of Gabriel Park and continues on SW Vermont Street to 33rd Place\, 33rd Place to Nevada Court\, Nevada Court to 33rd Avenue\, then entirely on SW Capitol Highway to Dolph Court\, finishing up along Dolph Court until it meets Spring Garden Park. Map notes that car traffic is permitted to cross this route using 35th Avenue and crossing at SW Vermont Street\, SW Capitol Highway\, SW Multnomah Boulevard\, or SW Falcon Street. \n  \nYou can access the route on your mobile as well.  Click here for the map. \n
