DESCRIPTION:Inaugural SWTrails Trail Run August 13\, 6am\nMeet at Gabriel Park’s Canby St Parking Lot (Little Gabriel)\nName: Gabriel\, Woods\, and Memorial Parks Loop Trail Run\nLeader: Tyler Weber\nStart Location: Meet in the Canby St. Parking Lot of Gabriel Park\nStart Time:  6 am (yes\, that’s right!)\nDistance: 5.37 miles\nElevation Change:  734 ft.\nPace:  Approx. 5 mph run\nBus Service: Check TriMet site for bus schedules \nWe are excited to announce yet another way to enjoy our beautiful southwest Portland.  For those of you who enjoy a run before you begin your work day\, join us for a first-time ever group run through our neighborhoods and parks.  Thanks to Tyler for bringing this idea forward to us. \nPortland is a city of runners\, and we are including a SWTrails trail run once a month that starts at 6am to our other urban trails hikes/walks.  We hope to reach out to another demographic to celebrate the many trails throughout southwest Portland. \n \nWe will meet at the Canby St parking lot in Gabriel Park (southern end\, Little Gabriel) at 6am and run from Gabriel Park to Woods Park\, wend our way through Multnomah Village and Neighborhood\, then run on to Memorial Park to return to our starting point.  Please note that if needed\, there is an approximate 3-mile cut-off option if time is a challenge for your work day\, or a 3-mile run is what you want.  You would just head back to Gabriel Park from Multnomah Village. \nBring a snack\, water\, appropriate footwear\, and dress appropriately for the weather (raingear? gloves? sunglasses? sunscreen? many layers?). Note that smoking on our hikes\, walks\, and runs is not permitted for health reasons. DESCRIPTION:SWTrails 2nd Saturday Hike\, August 9th\, 9am to Noon. Barber PR to Burlingame Wander \nMeet at the Barbur Park and Ride back by the Pedestrian Bridge \nName: Barbur Park and Ride to Burlingame 5 parks wander\nLeader: Dave Manville\nStart Location: Meet at the Barbur Park and Ride back by the Pedestrian Bridge\nStart Time:  9 am (arrive 10-15 minutes early so we can start promptly at 9am)\nDistance: 6.4 miles\nElevation Change:  900 ft.\nPace:  2.5 mph avg (our faster paced hike) \nBus Service: This is a Tri-Met Park and Ride there are many buses serving this location \nHi Hikers\, this month our hike is led by Dave Manville on a route leaving from the Barbur Blvd Park and Ride in the back by the pedestrian overpass\, 9712 SW Barbur Blvd\, Portland\, OR 97219. We will hike over to Foley Balmer cross Tryon Creek and walk the Frey Trail in Marshall Park\, then head over to SWTrail #4 and the 1 yr old new no steps route to the Terwilliger Blvd overpass and back via A-Park and Spring Garden Park. \nSWTrails still needs hike leaders\, hike ideas\, and a Hike Coordinator so let us know if you have a favorite hike we could do\, or if you have the volunteer spirit and would like to organize these hikes. It is a fun and rewarding adventure. \nJoin us! and remember this is our longer and faster paced 2.5 mph average speed hike with usually more than 6-mile distance and some moderate elevation change. \nBring a snack\, water\, good footwear\, and dress appropriately for the weather (raingear? gloves? sunglasses? sunscreen? many layers?). Note that smoking on our hikes and walks is not permitted for health reasons. Kids are welcome and well-behaved pets on leash are welcome also.
