SUMMARY:2nd Saturday Hike - July 11th
DESCRIPTION:Name: 2nd Saturday Hike – Pendleton Park Wander \nLeader: Dave Manville \nStart Location: We will meet at Pendleton Park 5347 SW Iowa Street \nStart Time:  9 am (arrive 10-15 minutes early so we can start promptly at 9am) \nDistance: 5.9 miles\nElevation Change:  800 ft.\nPace:  2.5 mph avg (our faster paced hike) \nBus Service: give a call if you need transportation \nHi hikers. Our regular 2nd Saturday hike for Saturday July 11th will be a route that takes us in the shade mostly from Pendleton Park Wandering as many SW Parks in Hayhurst\, Bridlemile\, and Maplewood Neighborhoods as we can find. Some highlights will be a section of the Red Electric Trail\, the Vermont Creek Crossing Trail\, Albert Kelly Park\, and more. It is going to be a hot day so prepare accordingly; Pendleton Pk and April Hill Park should have restrooms. \nSWTrails still needs hike leaders\, hike ideas\, and a Hike Coordinator so let us know if you have a favorite hike we could do\, or if you have the volunteer spirit and would like to organize these hikes. It is a fun and rewarding adventure. \nJoin us! and remember this is our longer and faster paced 2.5 mph average speed hike with usually more than 6-mile distance and some moderate elevation change. \nBring a snack\, water\, good footwear\, and dress appropriately for the weather (raingear? gloves? sunglasses? sunscreen? many layers?). Note that smoking on our hikes and walks is not permitted for health reasons. Kids are welcome and well-behaved pets on leash are welcome also. We always try and find restrooms along the way on these hikes\, but sometimes it is several miles to find one so prepare accordingly. \nWe look forward to hiking with you Saturday\, we always find lots of fun along the way. \nFor more information or to volunteer to lead a future hike in your neighborhood\, contact us at walks.swtrails.org or use our web form on the Walks page HERE to get in touch. \nDave Manville\nAssistant SWTrails Hike Coordinator
