Ho! Ho! Ho! Take a break from holiday obligations and go for a hike with SW Trails. This hike on Saturday the 10th of December at 9AM includes some wonderful, wooded areas and even a waterfall! Who knows, you might even pick up a great gift idea from your fellow hikers! I will lead this hike and we will begin at the Barbur Transit Center 9660 SW Barbur Blvd, Portland, OR 97219, meet and park on the back side by the freeway pedestrian overpass. We will be hiking 5.5 miles and have 800 ft of elevation change on this hike. It is winter and we will be on some good but maybe slippery trails with wet exposed roots, so bring those hiking poles. Our adventure will take us through Maricara Park, Quail Trail, Folley Balmer, Marshall Park, and Failing Creek Nature area. A reminder that this is our 2nd Saturday hike with a faster pace and a bit more than moderate difficulty. The Waterfall highlight is in Marshall Park where Tryon Creek cascades down into the area near the playground, so bring your cameras.
Bring a snack, water, good footwear, sunglasses, and rain gear as appropriate. Dress and prepare for the weather on hike day. Children and well-behaved dogs on leash are welcome. For health reasons, there is no smoking on SWTrails walks and hikes. If you need to leave the hike early let a hike leader know. We try to find a restroom along the way, but it’s not always possible to do so.
Looking forward to seeing you there with us.
