SW Trails Walk on Saturday, February 10 at 9:00 am
The February walk will be led by Mark Turner. From Wilson High School we will carpool to the vicinity of SW Corbett St. and SW Whitaker St. Then we will walk up to the Veteran’s Hospital, over to OHSU and then back down past the Casey Eye Institute to Terwilliger Blvd.
Then we will take the Woods Street trail down to SW Barbur and proceed north to SW Lincoln St. Next we will go past the Lovejoy Fountain, Pettygrove Park, Keller Fountain and Terry Shrunk Park before turning and crossing the Hawthorne Bridge. Turning South we will walk on the East Bank Esplanade to the Tillilum Crossing Bridge. After crossing the Willamette River we will again go South to the Gibbs St. Pedestrian Bridge and back to the cars. The walk is about 5.5 miles long with an elevation gain of 500 feet.
We’ll meet behind the bleachers, near the food carts (porta-potty) at Wilson High School (SW Sunset Blvd. and SW Capitol Highway) and be ready to go at 9:00 am. Well behaved dogs are allowed. They must be on leash. For health reasons, there is no smoking on SW Trails walks.
