SW Trails monthly first Thursday Work Party for March 1st 2018 will be at Ashcreek Natural Area from 9AM until Noon. This Natural Area is the one just above (East of) Dickinson Park where SW Trail #5 enters into the park on SW 52nd and continues down to SW 55th where we met for the February Work Party. This beautiful NA is out in the Crestwood Neighborhood also near Ashcreek Neighbors. We will be doing some tread hardening work and adding steps and hinge cutting to provide better footing for walkers and runners and all season use of the trail #5 in that area. The weather shows mid-40s for temps and some light rain. That is a bit chilly but great for trail work don’t you think. So come on out and join us as we do some good work on the SW Trail #5 in that area. Remember every first Thursday of the month now through December SW Trails is in a Park somewhere working on trail, join us.
As always our work is guided by the Portland Parks Lands Stewardship folks. and Parks will bring all the tools, gloves, and materials we need, and also, coffee, snacks, water, and usually some fruit. On these work parties it is not necessary to stay for the whole event and you can work at whatever level your skill and energy allows. It is just great to meet the neighbors and get a little trail work in.
I am using the same location map as last month Feb and we will meet in the same location on SW 55th Ave where SW Trail #5 crosses the road. Our work area will be up the trail to the NE in the vicinity of the SW 53rd entrance.

Best approach is from Taylors Ferry Rd heading West then turn onto SW 55th (left) and go down the hill to the meet point. Parking may be a bit limited so parking at the Dickinson Park play structure and walking down 1 block is good. Below is a map to help.
Attire should be sturdy shoes, work cloths, and winter layers. Also toss in some rain gear just in case. We look forward to seeing you out on this work party.
