SW Trails monthly first Thursday Work Party for December 6th 2018 will be a return to Albert Kelly Park from 9am until noon.  We will meet on the West side of the Park on Mitchell St, look for the big white Parks truck. Albert Kelly Park in the Bridlemile neighborhood has both SW Trail 1 and SW Trail 7 meandering through the park. This month we will be returning to the work we began last spring working on new trail construction on SW Trail 1 where it crosses the newly daylighted stream and heads West to Mitchell St.   Our goal with this work is to make an all weather route through Albert Kelly for walkers and runners as the area is now quite muddy at least 6 months of the year. Activities for this work party will include sod cutting the new route and filling that with gravel and compacting it. This project needs a bunch of workers so hopefully you can join us and get a head start on working off the Holiday season calories you might be accumulating.  It looks to be a sunny Fall day on Thursday and looks great for some trail work.  Remember every first Thursday of the month now through December SW Trails is in a Park somewhere working on a trail, join us or stop by and say hi.

As always our work is guided by the Portland Parks Lands Stewardship folks. and Parks will bring all the tools, gloves, and materials we need, and also, coffee, snacks, water, and usually some fruit. On these work parties it is not necessary to stay for the whole event and you can work at whatever level your skill and energy allows. It is just great to meet the neighbors and get a little trail work in.
