The February walk will be led by Dave Manville. It will be out in the Ashcreek, Crestwood and Maplewood neighborhoods. This will be a 6.7 mile hike with 250 ft elevation changes and some rolling terrain. We will carpool from Wilson High School out to Smith School at SW Marigold and SW 52nd Ave (See attached link below). This hike will be 2 loosely connected loops so there is an opportunity to hike only about 3.5 miles if you like. We will be going through 6 parks and natural areas and traveling on 9 urban connector trails as we wander. Our parks will be Smith Fields, Dickinson Park, Ashcreek Woods, Woods Park, April Hill Park and April Hill Natural Area and the urban trails will be part of the Brugger and Dolph paths among others. This hike really shows off the urban hiking potential when combining Parks with PBOT right-of-way trails for a quiet urban hiking experience.
We’ll meet behind the bleachers, near the food carts, at Wilson High School (SW Sunset Blvd. and SW Capitol Highway) and be ready to carpool at 9:00 am. Well behaved dogs are allowed. They must be on leash. For health reasons, there is no smoking on SW Trails walks.
