Have you ever wondered about the markings you see on the roads in the west hills?

2014 Print Lucky Lab ride

Tour de Lab

The PAW PRINTS that you see in Hillsdale, Multnomah Village and the west hills are from the Tour de Lab bike ride, sponsored by the Lucky Lab Pubs (one at 7675 SW Capitol Highway) 41 miles and a fund raiser for DoveLewis Emergency Animal Hospital.  It tours the west hills and stops at several of their pubs.  The ride has a different route each year.

RondePDX

RondePDX

The SMALL, YELLOW LIONS  painted on the hilly streets leading up to Council Crest are from an unofficial but well-attended ride called RondePDX.  It is an annual ride of 47 miles climbing about 20 of the city’s steepest streets, not all of which are paved.  Two sections have 22% to 25% grades.  Total elevation gain is 4700 feet.  Needless to say, only the young, strong and fearless do this ride.
