Sat. Nov. 12, 9:00 am
The November walk will be led by Mark Turner. We will explore Raleigh Hills.
The walk starts by carpooling to Bridlemile school. From Bridlemile school we will go west
through Raleigh Hills into Washington County, then turn north on Canyon Drive
and go up hill to the Sylvan neighborhood. From Sylvan we will go east on Hewitt Boulevard and Ormandy, then back south down to Bridlemile School. The route is about 6 miles and climbs about 700 feet. There is only a little sidewalk, about 100 yards on a primitive trail, two blocks on the shoulder of arterial roads, two stairways, and about five miles of walking on low traffic streets.
Meet behind the bleachers, near the food carts, at Wilson High School, (SW Sunset Blvd. and SW Capitol Highway) and be ready to go at 9:00 am. Well behaved dogs are allowed on leash. For health reasons, there is no smoking on SW Trails walks.
For more information, or to volunteer to lead a future walk in your neighborhood, contact Sharon Fekety (fekety@hevanet.com).
