SW Trails monthly first Thursday Work Party on October 5th will be at Gabriel Park from 9AM to Noon.
The weather will be cooler and the ground a little softer so come on out and help us work on the trails. We will meet for this work party at the community gardens area (see the map below). We will be doing work on SW Trail #3 as it exits Gabriel Park heading West to the Presbyterian Church. This work will involve some trail grading, a short bit of new trail construction, and brushing, and trail closure of some demand trails in the area.
As always our work is guided by the Portland Parks Lands Stewardship folks. and Parks will bring all the tools gloves, and materials we need and also, coffee, snacks, water, and usually some fruit. On these work parties it is not necessary to stay for the whole event and you can work at whatever level your skill and energy allows. It is just great to meet the neighbors and get a little trail work in.

Enter Gabriel Park from the South Entrance off SW Canby Street and proceed on the road beside the parking lot to the parking spaces at the community garden area.
Attire should be sturdy shoes and work cloths. Also it is fall so bring along some rain gear just in case. We look forward to seeing you out on the trail.
An additional note about the signage in Gabriel Park. You may have noticed over the years that inside the park there are no signs marking the route of SW Trail #3 and PPR-LS has agreed to allow for some discrete smaller trail and direction signs in the park. They are not there yet but check it out in the coming months as our review and updating of all the trail signage continues. Hans Steuch our signage coordinator has worked hard to get this improvement underway.
