SW Trails monthly first Thursday Work Party for Feb 1st 2018 will be at Dickinson Park and Natural Area from 9AM until Noon. This is out in the Crestwood Neighborhood also near Ashcreek Neighbors We will be doing some tread hardening work and demudifying (not a real word) with gravel placement on the Dickinson South Trail in the main large grassy field area. As time permits there is also some hardening up the hill in the Natural Area that needs attention and some hinge cutting to lessen the trail out-slope in some nearby areas. The weather shows mid-50s for temps and some light rain. That is great for trail work. So come on out and join us as we kick off the 2018 season of work parties every first Thursday of the month now through December.
As always our work is guided by the Portland Parks Lands Stewardship folks. and Parks will bring all the tools, gloves, and materials we need, and also, coffee, snacks, water, and usually some fruit. On these work parties it is not necessary to stay for the whole event and you can work at whatever level your skill and energy allows. It is just great to meet the neighbors and get a little trail work in.

or across the street and a bit South from 10710 SW 55th Ave where the SW Trail 5 crosses. Best approach is from Taylors Ferry Rd heading West then turn onto SW 55th (left) and go down the hill to the meet point. Parking may be a bit limited so parking at the play structure and walking down 1/2 block is good. Below is a map to help.
Attire should be sturdy shoes, work cloths, and winter layers. Also toss in some rain gear just in case. We look forward to seeing you out on this work party.
