This walk will take you through the Multnomah and Ashcreek neighborhoods. Our hike description begins in charming Multnomah Village and goes west to the soccer fields at Smith School, through Woods Park via the Marigold Trail, and passing the new Spring Garden Park before looping back to Multnomah Village. The route follows Garden Home Rd for much of the distance and although there is a decent roadside space (no sidewalks) to walk on it is a bit rough so recommended for sturdy walker/runners. As this is a loop hike it can be picked up at any place along the route such as George Smith School, Woods Park, etc.
Starting in front of the Multnomah Arts Center (MAC), walk west on SW Captiol Hwy, over the bridge crossing SW Multnomah Blvd and turn right at SW Garden Home Rd; turn left on SW 54th Ave, right on the walking trail leading to SW Dolph Ct, then left of SW Dolph Dr. Enter the campus of Smith School (the far NW corner abuts SW Dolph Dr) and take the perimeter trail around the west and south edge of the field and out of the school yard on SW 52nd Ave.; turn left of SW 52nd, right on SW Marigold, left on SW 48th, and enter Woods Natural Area at the Marigold Trail. Continue on the Trail, crossing SW 45th until the trail forks. Take the left fork (north) up to SW Marigold St. Turn left of SW 42nd Ave, right on SW Lobelia St, left on SW Capitol Hwy, right on SW Dolph Ct. (you will pass Spring Garden Park), left on SW 30th Ave (being careful of traffic as you are walking on the side of the road here), left on SW Hume St, and right on SW 31st Ave back up to MAC.
