In accordance with guidelines set out by the Oregon Health Authority, trail 5 is closed until further notice where it leads onto Lewis & Clark campus east of Boones Ferry Road/Terwilliger Boulevard.   The asphalted bike path east of this intersection remains open.  See the following map for a suggested alternative route.

Length of detour:
1.3 miles to Macadam Ave + 0.5 miles to eastern terminus of Trail 5, a total of 1.8 miles, compared to 1.5 miles for the closed section of Trail 5.

Description of detour west to east:
Start at the “Y” intersection between Boones Ferry Road and Terwilliger Boulevard. Go north by crossing Terwilliger at the stop light and enter 2nd Ave. After a block take a right on Ridge Rd and walk about 0.4 miles to Palatine Hill Road. Take a left on Palatine and walk one block to the intersection with Brugger St. There’s a trailhead on your right at this intersection leading east into River View Natural Area. Enter and walk a couple of hundred feet to a clearing from which several marked trails radiate out. Find Trail 6 and follow this for about 0.7 miles to Macadam Avenue/SR 43. You are now about half a mile north of the eastern terminus of partially closed Trail 5; this terminus is at the Riverdale Road/Macadam Ave intersection.
