2nd Saturday Hike – August 8th

Name: 2nd Saturday Hike – Aug 8th – Gabriel Park Westward Wander

Start Location: We will meet and park on the East side of Gabriel Park on SW 37th Ave across from the address 6930 also at the SW Texas junction, meet on SWTrail 3 in the park. 

Start Time:  9 am (arrive 10-15 minutes early so we can start promptly at 9am)

Distance: 5.5 miles
Elevation Change:  550 ft.
Pace:  2.5 mph avg (our faster paced hike)

Bus Service: give a call if you need transportation

Hi hikers. Our regular 2nd Saturday hike for Saturday Aug 8th will be a route that takes us on a wander through Gabriel Park and then off to the West to see April Hill Nature Area, Hide Away Park, and Pendleton Park and back. It is going to be a hot day so prepare accordingly; Pendleton Pk and April Hill Park should have restrooms.

SWTrails still needs hike leaders, hike ideas, and a Hike Coordinator so let us know if you have a favorite hike we could do, or if you have the volunteer spirit and would like to organize these hikes. It is a fun and rewarding adventure.

Join us! and remember this is our longer and faster paced 2.5 mph average speed hike with usually more than 6-mile distance and some moderate elevation change.

Bring a snack, water, good footwear, and dress appropriately for the weather (raingear? gloves? sunglasses? sunscreen? many layers?). Note that smoking on our hikes and walks is not permitted for health reasons. Kids are welcome and well-behaved pets on leash are welcome also. We always try and find restrooms along the way on these hikes, but sometimes it is several miles to find one so prepare accordingly.
