As you make a last push to finish your annual holiday shopping, SWTrails encourages you to Shop Small, Shop Local, Shop Independent. We are a not-for-profit organization, with the aim of improving the community we live in – this includes support of local businesses.
Retailers earn most of their revenue during November and December. In fact, the term “Black Friday” refers to stores moving from the “red” to the “Black” back when accounting records were kept by hand, and red ink indicated a loss. (Source: Blackfriday.com) Support for small businesses is even more critical as retailers are still reeling from the effects of COVID. When you shop small, you’re buying from your neighbors and friends and, you’re helping to keep nearby retailers open.
